A Folligraft PU glass-skin center recreates a natural scalp appearance, while ¾" of extra PU reinforcement around the perimeter adds durability and a clean, secure bonding surface. Light-to-medium (115%) density and a soft 28 mm wave give the FGT II natural movement across a trimmable 7" x 9" base, with 4 to 6 systems recommended per year for optimal results.

How do I maintain a skin unit?

Skin units are not serviced or re-bonded. We recommend disposing of the unit once its wear period is complete and replacing it with a fresh one. This keeps the look clean and the scalp healthy.

How durable is a skin base, and who is it best for?

Skin (poly) bases give the most realistic "hair growing from the scalp" look. They hold up well to sweat and water, which makes them a strong choice for active wearers who want a flawless scalp appearance. The trade-off is that skin is less breathable than lace and has a shorter lifespan, which is why our skin units are designed to be worn and then replaced rather than serviced.

Should I use tape or glue on a skin hair system?

We recommend a full-bond liquid adhesive (glue) for full skin units, because the ultra-thin base is designed to be bonded edge to edge. Popular choices are X20 Adhesive for sensitive skin, Extreme Max for extended wear, and Ultra-Derm for long-lasting hold. Double-sided tapes such as Red Liner are better suited to units with a poly perimeter rather than a full skin base.

How natural does a skin unit look up close?

Skin gives the most undetectable scalp appearance of any base because the hair appears to emerge directly from a "scalp-like" surface, with no visible knots or mesh.
