How it works
Guides for Custom Ordering
Color Ring
Reference the Men's Color Ring for men's orders and the Club W Color Ring for women's orders. Match your client's hair to the closest ring number and note it on the form.
When you include hair samples, mark them with letters — not numbers. Numbers can be mistaken for color-ring codes at the factory.
Mold Making Guide
To ensure a proper fit and comfort, all custom orders should include a mold of the client's head. We accept the following types of molds.
The three best options
These options mean your finished custom unit will be returned with a smooth foam block mold of the client's head.
Plaster Cast Molds — gives you an "eggshell-modeling quality." Very accurate and smooth, with no wrinkles. The finished custom unit is returned with a smooth foam block mold of the client's head.
Plastic PVC Molds — can also give you the "eggshell-modeling quality." The finished custom unit is returned with a smooth foam block mold of the client's head.
Techform Molds — very accurate. Made of fiberglass strips, which will not mold like plaster cast.
Other acceptable options
Packing Tape Molds — use 2 to 3 layers for a good shape. Do not fold them.
Scotch Tape Molds — should only be used once. Use 4 to 5 layers for a good shape. Do not fold them.
Hair Density & Base Materials
Density should be matched to the base material — a density that looks natural on one construction can outweigh another. Use the charts below to choose the right density for each base before you order.
Welded Base
414 — a super fine welded lace base, the most delicate of all welded base materials. It can only handle a certain amount of weight, so make sure the hair length combined with the density does not outweigh the recommended weight for this unit.
616 — a fine welded lace base, a little stronger than the 414. It can hold more hair than the 414, but you still need to make sure the hair length combined with the density does not outweigh the recommended weight for this unit.
88 — the strongest of all the welded bases. This base can hold any hair length and any density.
| Base Type | Extra Light 80% | Light 100% | Light/Medium 115% | Medium 130% | Medium/Heavy 150% | Heavy 180% |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 414 | Any Length | 16"–18" | 12"–14" | 8"–10" | Not Available | Not Available |
| 616 | Any Length | 18"–20" | 14"–16" | 10"–12" | Not Available | Not Available |
| 88 | Any Length | Any Length | Any Length | Any Length | Any Length | 170% Max |
Fine Mono
Fine Mono is one of the most durable bases we make and can hold any density and any length. It is a woven mono, so it must have a binding around the perimeter of the unit to keep it from unraveling — the binding can be many materials, such as skin, ribbon, or a PU-coated edge. Fine Mono is also called M-mesh, and even 51.
| Base Type | Extra Light 80% | Light 100% | Light/Medium 115% | Medium 130% | Medium/Heavy 150% | Heavy 180% |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fine Mono | Any Length | Any Length | Any Length | Any Length | Any Length | Any Length |
Skin
Keep in mind that on skin units, the longer the hair or the heavier the density requested, the thicker the base. For example, if you order an XTS with 12" hair length and 120% density, due to the hair length it is no longer an XTS.
| Base Type | Extra Light 80% | Light 100% | Light/Medium 115% | Medium 130% | Medium/Heavy 150% | Heavy 180% |

| XTS | 12" | 12" | 12" length, 120% | Not Available | Not Available | Not Available |

Here's the quick walk-through of everything the form asks for:
- Choose whether the order is for a man or a woman.
- Match the color from the correct color ring, and note grey percentage.
- Pick your base material, then the density that suits it.
- Set hair length, wave/curl pattern, and knot options.
- Tell us about the mold and whether a hair sample is enclosed.
FAQ
Filling out the form
1Is my mold saved?
No — when you receive your custom order, the mold you sent is returned to you.
2How do I mark my hair samples?
Mark your hair samples with letters. If you use numbers, the factory can get confused and think the number refers to the color ring.
3What color ring do I use?
Reference the Men's Color Ring for men's orders and the Club W Color Ring for women's orders.
4How do I know the right hair density and material to order?
Use the Hair Density & Base Materials guide above to choose the right hair densities for each base material.
Custom unit
1Can I order under-venting on lace fronts or scalloped fronts?
No, under-venting cannot be ordered on lace fronts or scalloped fronts.
2When do I need to order colorless knots?
For a natural-looking front, we recommend colorless knots in lace fronts whenever the hair color is darker than shade #6.
3Does the hair come permed?
There is no guarantee or warranty that the hair will be factory chemically permed. We strongly recommend that you do your own perms.
Sending in a mold & hair sample
1Do I need to send in a mold?
If this is a new custom order, you'll need to provide a mold of the client's head. Once we have it, you can reuse those measurements for future custom orders. If the size of the hairpiece needs to be adjusted, a new mold will be required.
2How do I send the mold and hair sample?
Ship it to our location at:
1501 Northpoint Pkwy, Suite 100, West Palm Beach, FL 33407-1955
3Can I send the same mold I used before?
If the measurements and customizations are the same for the new order, you can send the same mold. You must send in a new mold when:
- You want to add highlights.
- The client has changed measurements.
4Do I need to send a hair sample?
If you're looking for an accurate color match, you must send in a hair sample with sufficient hair. To send a good sample, cut the hair as close to the scalp as possible.
Weak hair samples can cause errors in the color match. Avoid sending:
- The ends of the hair, which are normally lighter due to natural sun bleaching.
- Ten hairs on a piece of scotch tape — that will not be enough.
Order processing
1How long does it take to receive my custom order?
Tops of the heads take at least 8 weeks. If the hair is longer than 10″, or the order is for full caps, it can take longer.
